Vestige IV

This week has been a little dry for me, art wise. I have to get back to the swing of things and try to post more often. Sometimes I work on a painting so much and the result is just not what I wanted. I have another painting drying at the moment and hope to post it tomorrow.

I like this very much ... because you have the bright blues on the periphery it makes the centre 'mysterious' in some way. At least that is how I see it ... Very interesting to look at .. it draws me in, and I love the shapes and colours.

It heartens me somewhat to hear that I am not the only one who struggles over getting things to 'feel right'!

Thank you Lesley, yes it is a struggle to get the feel and not know when it is right.

Mariana, I like this a lot. I agree with lesly. Also, the texture is wonderful! what is the size of this one?

That was going to be my comment as well, the blue adds a certain something to the painting. I was also interested in the texture...is is collage or built up gesso? It has a nice depth...I'll have to look at it again.

Mary, all these comments leave me with little to say except that I love this piece and think it is both intriguing and beautiful. There is a kind of little drama going on that makes ones breath catch.

Paula, thank you! This one is 20X20 inches.

Cynthia, thank you for your visit and comment. I applied gesso and textured it first , then painted with acrylic and finished with oil but I wasn't satisfied with it so I added the tissue paper to the left and the page of an old torn book. It lost a little of the depth because I finished off with a black oil pour to bond the whole thing. I think I can still make it pop with a little contrast after it dries.

Robin, thank you for the comment on drama. Hope I can make it just a little more intense.
