I miss you Daddy!

There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself.

Hi Mary....
Finally made it to your lovely blog. Looks terrific.

It was so nice to see the tribute to your father. Such a handsome man.

I especially liked the lines which read "There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter...". I am familiar with that line too. My father died at the age of 46 and only got a glimpse of his first grandchild - my daughter.

That wonderful line - remembering a blessed childhood in his simple presence - echoes even more strongly today, thirty-some years later. And it winds its way into the hearts and minds of my children and grandchildren as well when I share the memories and tell the stories.

Thank you for the reminder.

Thank you Karen for visiting and for the beautiful words about the memory of your father. Those are very touching and very true. How fortunate to have had fathers that are unforgettable and will be kept alive in the minds of their grandchildren.
