Profiles

Titles never come to me very easy but I do see some profiles in this one so I will use them as the title. This one is a little larger that the other tissue paper ones. I love using tissue paper and this one got quite busy but a I have one prepared with a little less and I might add something else like encaustic to it. In the meantime here is this one that I enjoyed doing. Tissue paper, copper and gold leaf, oil on MDF board 16X20

Mary,

The flow of the colors with the texture is just wonderful. This is lovely.

I just love your tissue paper abstracts! I wish I could see them in person.

This may sound weird, but I see faces everywhere, in my counter tops, in trees, anywhere there is texture.

Do you cut the MDF board, or buy the pieces pre-cut. Is MDF is thicker than masonite?

I agree, totally Mariana. How fun you must be having working with tissue paper. I used to do this all the time when I was in the california gallery.

fun fun

Robin, thank you! I can't seem to break away from texture but maybe someday, although I need your creativity.

Thank you, Cynthia! I used to wonder why all my paintings have faces too but I have noticed it is just that we must have a very vivid imagination and find things or make them up, on any kind of texture.

Thank you, Paula, yes I remember you entioning using tissue paper. I do like the way it changes depending how you use it.

Love this one, the colors are so earthy and the texture is great! People have always told me they see faces in my rock paintings. I don't put them there, nature does! I think it must just be that we're human, so we see faces in things!??

Hi Mary

I've only used tissue paper a few times in the past but its great fun, isn't it! I haven't tried any on canvas though ... perhaps I will.

I tried MDF a few years ago ... its great to paint on but I found it very heavy.

I love the way you are doing these ... the texture and colour are gorgeous. They are beautiful.

Mary, your abstracts are incredible! not a bad one in the bunch. i love your use of the metallics, too. the patinas you create really brings them to life. i can hardly believe you're doing one every single day! you go, girl!!

Thank you Billie! I wish I was doing one everyday but these take a little longer. It is the little still lifes that I am doing everyday in the other bog.

I love this work. I am doing a lot of work with texture for my next exhibition but have never used tissue paper. I am keen to give it a try now. You might like to have a look at my web site!

Thank you Philip! Tissue paper is very easy to use. I just put acrylic medium on the surface and lay my tissue paper down. I like for it to wrinkle so sometimes I take my hands and try to shape it a little.
