Copper Leaf again.

Close up:

It has been almost a week since my last post. My life has been so busy lately and I do paint daily but just haven't been able to get the abstracts done fast enough. I don't feel that this one is finished. There is something about the bottom left gold rectangle that I'm not sure of. Maybe I sould subdue it or do away with it all together. If anyone has suggestions I would love to hear them.

Mary, I think this is lovely. If you are unhappy with the bottom-left gold square, you might try smudging the upper right corner of that square with a bit of red, as you did in the upper right gold piece. Or, you might try just rotating the whole piece 90 degrees clockwise, which would put the two gold pieces in the upper left-hand corner of the painting. But I must say again that this is lovely.

Mary this is lovely. My only suggestion would be that the upper right red square seems to me to be 'at odds' ... not the bottom left one. It seems to draw my eye too much.

Maybe try what Robin suggests and introduce a little red in the gold bottom left, or perhaps tone down the upper right red square. This is just my opinion based on looking at it on the monitor ... not the best place to decide these things!

I wouldn't change the left corner much at all ... its really lovely.

I love the work you're doing with copper leaf! They only thing I can see is that the bottom left square is lighter than the others. I agree with Robin and lesly, try rotating the canvas or introducing more red.

I did some abstract paintings on aluminum foil this summer that I really enjoyed. You make me want ot give those another try.

Thank you, Robin, Lesley and Cynthia for looking and for your suggestion. I will make these changes and I see now what it is that I am not happy with.

Gosh Mary - these are really great - you do such wonderful things with that gold leaf. I think maybe I have a thing about coppery shade of goldleaf.........

Thank you, Katherine. I have just been given a roll of thin copper. Don't know what I will do but I hope to find something to do with it!
